| It is the purpose of the Wildwood
Crest Beach Patrol to provide the most competent Lifeguarding
services possible to the public using our beaches. To accomplish
this, WCBP has always sought to recruit the most qualified
and talented individuals and train them in the professional
level that has been the standards of this organization. Our
lifeguards have been trained to establish and maintain the
highest standards of professional surf and open water lifesaving
to maximize the public's safety.
The Wildwood Crest Beach Patrol operates on a basic philosophy
which is different from that of many other patrols. We strongly
believe in a system of "Preventive Lifeguarding".
This system is necessitated by the dangerous and constantly
changing nature of our surf, shoreline, and immense crowds
of up to 90,000 per day on a busy weekend. The effectiveness
of our system is dramatically reflected in our outstanding
safety record.
The Wildwood Crest Beach Patrol has always had a reputation
for maintaining a "commitment to excellence" and
it will continue that basic premise. It is the responsibility
of everyone of our lifeguards to uphold its integrity through
a commitment to the profession of Lifeguarding and its traditions
in Wildwood Crest.
